Why It Doesnt Matter If You Eat The Healthiest Food!

I can not get enough of kale, raw veggies,  fresh fuit with coconut oil and nuts!!! I even make a mean raw chocolate peanut butter bar.
Yeah, I’m damn lucky—I crave the healthiest foods you can imagine. So why am I so tired, watching my stomach puff out after eating only two bites of these foods?
I decided to get an expert’s opinion, so of course I went straight to Madison Madden, an Ayurvedic Practioner (love her!!)

For those of you who are thinking, “WTF is Ayurveda?”—it is an ancient, holistic way of living in harmony with the seasons. It literally means “the science of life,” and although there are three main “doshas”—or constitutions—recommendations are individual and based on observation.
Apparently I have a Vata (Winter) imbalance, meaning I run dry and cold, and my digestive fire is too low to be able to break down all the raw foods I eat!
 
It DOESN’T MATTER if you eat the HEALTHIEST FOODS in the world, if you are not digesting them properly, your body is not reaping the benefits from all the nutrients you are giving it!!!
So what’s a New York health gal to do?!
How about lightly cook my veggies, have warm oat cereal with coconut oil, cinnamon, cardamon and ginger, blanch my nuts, have date banana smoothies, and eat this crazy insane jam every morning.
Madison just flipped my world!  Now I can have smoothies that taste like milkshakes and eat jam every morning!!

By the way, this Jam is MY homemade Jam!! It’s full of digestive stimulating herbs, and an Indian goji berry high in iron and vitamin c, not to mention ghee, which is clarified butter and happens to be excellent brain food!
Ok, I got this!
Not really.  It’s been a challenge limiting the yummy salads I love, but I am making progress …
Wait!  Am I heating the minerals and nutrients right out of my veggies by cooking them?  If your digestion isn’t strong enough to break down the cellular wall of the plant/fruit/nut/legume, you are not getting those nutrients anyway, so a little heat will break down the wall for you!  Just don’t overcook them!
Just had a black lentil stew with sweet potato and kale … YUMME YOU means YUMMY for ME TOO!
