I don’t know about you, but this time of year there are more holiday parties on my calendar than actual days in the week!
ALARM!! This is where the holiday weight gain happens. Yes, these social gatherings decorated with snowmen and blinking lights are also full of cheese plates, too-many glasses of spiked egg nog, and third helpings of Grandma’s pumpkin pie, accompanied by pledges of starvation and gym time to make up for it!
Pre-holiday parties, holiday parties, and why-is-everyone-born-between-November-and-January birthday parties?!!!! It’s the beginning of the annual holiday gorge-fest where you feel like you’re bursting at the seams until two weeks after New Years!

This time of year, your body enters into a refined sugar/carbohydrate, low-grade, high-fat, usually nutrient-devoid festive feast zone. Your fats cells, stress levels and hormones are on stand-by to go crazy with these all-too-yummy holiday favorites like your sister-in-law’s candied sweet potato casserole, and Aunt Katy’s creamed breadcrumb pretending-to-have- something-to-do-with-green beans surprise. The roasts, the buttered mashed potatoes, the stuffing—oh and about 9 different desserts, each of which you absolutely HAVE to try!!
BUT … you get to bring a dish! Right there you have the opportunity to reverse the potential pound-packing habits by choosing something nutritious, filling, and worthy of praise.
But who has the time to make something?! It’s so mush easier to run into Trader Joe’s and grab packaged veggies and a creamy chemical dip.
THAT’S why I want to share with you my easy, go-to Kale Cesar Salad recipe—under 2 minutes to make with only 5 ingredients that you probably have in your fridge anyway!
This Roman salad will lead you victoriously to your healthy weight management goal!
